Supporting isoform-centric single-cell research with hands-on technology and scientific partnership.

Single-cell long-read sequencing makes it possible to measure full-length transcripts, alternative splicing, and isoform usage at true single-cell resolution, answering questions that remain inaccessible to short-read approaches.

ArgenTag has developed a fast, equipment-free single-cell kit designed specifically for isoform-focused studies. Through this grant, we are looking to partner with a research group whose biology genuinely depends on isoform-level resolution, and to publicly demonstrate what this technology enables when applied to the right scientific questions.

ArgenTag Single-Cell
Long-Read Sequencing

  • We encourage scientists of any level to apply!

Simply complete the short form on this page and include your 500-word proposal. You can read the official rules or reach out to ArgenTag directly about this grant.

The submission window closes Tuesday, March 31st 2026 at 11:59 PM EST.

  • This grant is intended for research programs where RNA isoforms are central to the biological question.

We will prioritize projects in the following areas:

    • Cancer research

    • Development

    • Immunology

    • Infectious diseases

    • Neuroscience

    • Splicing in non-model organisms

Strong proposals from other fields are welcome if isoform diversity, transcript usage, or alternative splicing are core to the hypothesis.

  • Applications will be evaluated based on:

    Scientific impact and originality
Does the proposed work address a question that cannot be answered without isoform-resolved, full-length transcript data?

    Fit to the technology
Is single-cell long-read sequencing the right tool for the job, and is the proposed experiment technically sound and feasible?

    Readiness to execute
    This includes:

    • Experience preparing fresh single-cell suspensions

    • Access to appropriate long-read sequencing platforms (PacBio or ONT)

    • Adequate funding and infrastructure to complete the broader project

  • Selected recipients will receive:

    • Up to four reactions (40,000 cells) of the ArgenTag single-cell long-read kit

    • Project planning support and a one-hour debrief with our scientific board

    • Sequencing of submitted samples on a long-read platform

    • Basic bioinformatics analysis covering demultiplexing, barcode/UMI processing, cell calling, quality metrics, and standard visualizations (UMAP)

  • The ArgenTag Single-Cell RNA Library Kit for Long-Read Sequencing converts the mRNA from individual cells into full length tagged cDNA that is directly sequenceable by long-read technologies.

The kit uses a portable microfluidic chip that easily and gently partitions single cells into individual microwells, and mRNA capture magnetic beads with ArgenTag smart barcoding technology.
